Surface technology process: Powder Coating

Powder coating - also known as powder painting - is an industrial coating process for surface finishing in which an electrically conductive workpiece is coated with powder paint. The coating system used for this consists of components for surface pre-treatment (for cleaning and/or applying a conversion layer) and intermediate drying. It also has an electrostatic coating zone and a dryer. The workpieces are transported during the entire process via a special conveyor system. All electrically conductive substrates such as aluminum and (galvanized) steel are generally suitable for powder coating. The process is mainly used in metal and facade coating, in the manufacture of household appliances and in automotive and furniture painting. In addition, temperature-sensitive substrates such as MDF boards or vehicles are increasingly coated with powder. During the process, tiny electrically charged plastic particles are sprayed, which adhere to the surface of the component to be processed. The solvent- and heavy metal-free powder coating produced in this process is typically characterized by a layer thickness of between 60 and 120 μm. It has high chemical and mechanical resistance as well as high resistance to environmental influences.

At the Heiche site in Leisnig (Saxony), we carry out high-quality, environmentally friendly powder coating for you. Regardless of whether you require the processing of individual parts or the production of a large batch - our extensive service portfolio is sure to meet your individual requirements. Depending on customer requirements, our powder coatings are used for interior, weatherproof exterior and facade applications. In our plant, we can coat aluminum, magnesium (in conjunction with a KTL primer), cast materials, zinc die-castings, steel, galvanized steel, non-ferrous metals and alloys. It is also possible to combine cathodic dip coating and powder coating in a single operation. Our maximum product window for these processes is 1100 mm x 1000 mm x 350 mm with a maximum component weight of 20 kg.

We use this process for these materials:

Aluminum, Magnesium, Steel, Zinc die-cast
